Published: August 10, 2026

Alvanley Parish Council is delighted to express its sincere thanks to Alvanley Agricultural Services Ltd for their outstanding work in repairing, renovating and reinstalling the historic fingerpost located at the corner of Helsby Road and Manley Road.

The fingerpost, a distinctive local landmark and an important part of the parish’s heritage, has been expertly restored and returned to its rightful place, ensuring that it can continue to be appreciated by residents and visitors for many years to come.

Chair of Alvanley Parish Council, Jeanette Hughes, praised the company’s professionalism and commitment to quality craftsmanship.

“On behalf of Alvanley Parish Council and the wider community, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Agricultural Services Ltd for the excellent work they have carried out on the restoration of our fingerpost at the junction of Helsby Road and Manley Road.

The fingerpost is a valued feature of our local landscape and an important reminder of our parish’s history. Alvanley Agricultural Services Ltd have undertaken the repair, renovation and reinstallation with great care and attention to detail, ensuring that this much-loved landmark has been preserved for future generations.

We are extremely grateful for their expertise, professionalism and dedication, and we thank them for helping to maintain and enhance the character of our parish.”

The council recognises the importance of preserving historic street furniture and local heritage assets, which contribute significantly to the unique identity of Alvanley. The successful restoration of the fingerpost demonstrates how collaboration between local organisations and skilled contractors can help protect these important community features.

Alvanley Parish Council would like to place on record its appreciation to everyone involved in the project and looks forward to seeing the restored fingerpost continue to serve as a familiar and welcoming landmark at one of the parish’s key gateways.
