Register as a Volunteer
Alvanley Parish Council
Our parish relies on the support of local residents who are willing to give their time, skills and ideas to help make our community a great place to live.
Whether you have an hour to spare occasionally or would like to become more regularly involved, there are many ways you can help.
Current volunteer opportunities
Parish and environmental projects
Help with litter picks, planting, maintaining community spaces and seasonal tidy-ups.
Communications
Help share parish news, take photographs, contribute articles or assist with social media and newsletters.
Practical skills
If you have useful skills—such as gardening, administration, IT, photography, design or event organisation—we’d love to hear from you.
How Much Time Do I Need to Give?
There’s no fixed commitment. Opportunities range from one-off activities lasting an hour or two to regular volunteering.
When you contact us, simply tell us how much time you’re able to offer and what sort of activities interest you.
Who Can Volunteer?
You don’t need previous volunteering experience. We welcome residents of all ages and backgrounds, and we’ll explain what you need to know before you get started.
Some activities may have specific age, safeguarding, insurance or health and safety requirements, which we’ll explain when appropriate.
Volunteer Health and Safety
Alvanley Parish Council is committed to ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of all volunteers involved in Parish Council activities and events.
The Parish Council has an experienced and fully qualified Health and Safety Officer as part of its team, who will provide appropriate guidance and support to ensure that suitable health and safety arrangements are in place.
For any event or activity organised by or on behalf of Alvanley Parish Council:
- Appropriate risk assessments will be completed and made available where relevant.
- Suitable health and safety procedures and guidance will be provided.
- All necessary equipment, protective equipment and safety measures will be provided as appropriate to the activity.
- Volunteers will be given relevant information and instructions regarding the safe undertaking of their role.
- Volunteers should follow all reasonable health and safety instructions and raise any concerns or hazards with the event organiser or Health and Safety Officer.
Volunteers are not expected to undertake tasks for which they have not been appropriately briefed, trained or equipped. If a volunteer is unsure about any aspect of an activity or considers that a task may be unsafe, they should stop and seek advice from the event organiser or Health and Safety Officer.
The Parish Council will take all reasonably practicable steps to ensure that volunteers can participate in Council-organised activities in a safe and appropriately managed environment.
