A Year of Renewal and Progress in Alvanley
Over the past 18 months, Alvanley Parish Council has undergone a period of positive change and steady renewal. With several new councillors joining the team, a new Chair appointed last year, and—most recently—the recruitment of a new Parish Clerk, the council is now well-positioned to serve the village with fresh energy and a clear sense of direction.

Strengthening How We Work
A key focus this year has been improving how the council operates. New policies and procedures have been introduced to ensure that decision-making is consistent, transparent, and aligned with best practice. These updates are designed to make it easier for residents to understand how the council works and how to get involved.

A New Parish Council Logo

Following a community competition, Alvanley Parish Council now has a new logo. This gives the council a clearer visual identity and reflects the pride and character of the village. The logo will appear on council documents, notices, and the new website.

A New Interactive Website
We are excited to announce that a brand-new, interactive Parish Council website will be launched soon. The site will make it easier to:
• Access meeting agendas and minutes
• Report issues
• Find local information
• Stay updated on village projects and events
This will be a major step forward in improving communication and accessibility for all residents.

Snowdrop Planting to Enhance the Village
To improve the appearance of the area opposite the cricket club, snowdrops have been donated by a local resident and are being planted this season. Over time, this will create a natural, welcoming display each spring and contribute to the wider effort to enhance the village environment.

Christmas Lights – A Fresh Start for 2026
Many residents will remember that last year’s Christmas lights unfortunately failed. We are pleased to confirm that new lights have now been sourced and are planned for installation ahead of Christmas 2026. The aim is to bring festive cheer back to the village with a reliable and attractive display.

Village Fingerpost Restoration
One of Alvanley’s traditional fingerposts was recently damaged. It is currently undergoing repair, and we expect it to be reinstated soon. These heritage features are an important part of the village’s character, and we are committed to maintaining them.

Annual Litter Pick – April 2026
Our annual community litter pick will take place this April. This event is always a great opportunity for residents to come together, help keep the village looking its best, and enjoy a sense of shared pride in our surroundings. More details will be shared shortly.

Looking Ahead
With new leadership, updated processes, and improved communication tools, the Parish Council is committed to working openly and collaboratively with the community. We look forward to continuing this positive momentum throughout the year.

Your Parish Council Needs You
We currently have 3 vacancies on the Parish Council and we are looking for local resident who wish to get involved and make a real difference to their community.

Becoming a parish councillor offers a unique opportunity to actively shape and improve your local community. It allows you to represent the needs and concerns of residents, influence decisions that affect the area, and contribute to making it a better place to live. It’s a change to make a real difference by getting involved in local governance and community development.

Please contact parishclerk@alvanleyparishcouncil.gov.uk if you would like further information.
