Alvanley Parish Council Plants Spring Bulbs for a Colourful Village Display
Published: September 23, 2026
Jeanette Hughes and Dave Gilbert, Chair and Vice Chair of Alvanley Parish Council, spent time this morning planting spring bulbs in all three of the village planters. This is the first time that spring bulbs have been planted in the planters, and the Parish Council is looking forward to seeing them burst into colour next spring, creating an attractive display for residents and visitors alike.

The project forms part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the appearance of the village and investing in community spaces that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
The Parish Council would also like to recognise and thank The White Lion, Alvanley, which generously provides and plants the summer bedding displays in the planters each year. These colourful floral displays have become a much-appreciated feature of the village during the summer months and make a valuable contribution to keeping Alvanley looking its best.
Speaking on behalf of the Council, Jeanette Hughes said:
“We are delighted to have introduced spring bulb planting to the village planters for the first time. We hope the displays will provide a splash of colour and be enjoyed by everyone when they bloom next year.”
Dave Gilbert added:
“The planters are an important feature of our village, and we are grateful to The White Lion for its continued support with the summer bedding displays. The addition of spring bulbs will help ensure the planters remain attractive for even more of the year.”
Alvanley Parish Council looks forward to unveiling the colourful display next spring and thanks everyone who helps make the village such a special place to live and visit.
